Gabriel is a very proud man, he found it galling enough when he heard his angelica was to be a farmer’s daughter, but a slave girl? When I reread Archangel I am struck again with its quality and insight and the beauty of its storytelling.
Each week, our editors select the one author and one book they believe to be most worthy of your attention and highlight them in our Pro Connect email alert. Slow beginning, great middle, poor ending. I was so sure this novel would earn a hearty 5 Stars from me and make its way to my ‘favorites’ shelf, but alas, I couldn’t bring myself to fall in love with this as I thought I would.
The citizens of Gaza, the Manadavvi, are highly cultured and wealthy. Despite anything else I may say, it is a favorite of mine. I remember being very underwhelmed.

They really were at each others’ throats to the rachangel end, and I found Rachel to be just a little too stubborn and unreasonable. If you can stomach that and enjoy it despite that aspect, the novel is a unique sginn enjoyable read.

That said the religious references are overt, archange, Archangel is not religious fiction. From the way she’d been acting, I would never have guessed.
But Rachel is still in love with her Edori man. They aren’t the only place names that sound familiar, there’s also Mount Sinai, the Plain of Sharon and the Galilee Ri There are five books out in this series, though each can be read as stand-alone novels. But an age of corruption has come to the land, threatening their archangwl and placing the Samarians in grave danger. And so it came to pass And she is devoted to the poor and outcast and to making a difference in Samaria.
Weird shlnn explain but really really good!

I’d say that Shinn earned her ending rachangel right. Rachel, an Edori slave, dislikes angels because of what they had done to her family when she was younger. She is unreasonable to the point of being one of the most obstinate women I have ever run across in literature. View all 29 comments.

Every twenty years, the power of the Archangel is passed down to the next generation, where the angel and his or her mate must lead all of the peoples of Samaria in the Gloria to sing praises to Jovah and show Him that they live in peace and harmony—otherwise, Jovah will cast down his wrath.
Rachel is finally feeling some small amount at hope when she learned earlier that the lord’s daughter intends to take her and set her free. To ask other readers questions about Archangelplease sign up.
